Friday Favorites

After sharing my 30 Before 30 on Tuesday, I heard from multiple friends and readers saying that they would like to join a book club. It was just the nudge I needed to get one started! The book club will be in Lexington, and I hope to have the first meeting in late June or early July. If you're interested in joining or hearing more details, please send us a private note by heading to the "Contact Us" page, which you can find at the top, or by emailing Feel free to share any book suggestions as well!

Baby water-skier? I learned to water ski at age 26, and I'm still really rusty. I'm seriously impressed with this 6 month old's skills! (Side Note: I'm relieved that she's skiing in shallow water surrounded by adults.) - Laura

I LOVE reading magazines! It is one of my favorite ways to unwind if I have a spare 10 minutes or entire hour. With a cup of coffee or La Croix in hand, it is such a treat. Last Friday was the best mail day since I received both Southern Living and Real Simple, which are my two favorite magazines. I loved this handwriting analysis in the June Real Simple. I thought the results were spot on! My handwriting says I'm logical and practical, well adjusted and adaptable, and unswayed by emotional arguments. It took me back to my teenage days of taking quizzes in Seventeen. You know the ones... Which New Friend Do You Need? (The Bookworm) What's Your Summer Anthem? (John Legend's "All of Me") - Laura

In terms of guilty pleasures, The Bachelor and The Bachelorette rank pretty high on my list. As this week was the highly anticipated premier of the new season of The Bachelorette, I stumbled across this analysis of the contestants based on the shirts they are wearing in their headshot. I found this all to be mildly amusing until the ranking of the aggressively salmon v-necks, and then I lost it. - Sarah

If this blog had a celebrity spirit animal, there's no doubt that it would be Reese Witherspoon. I loved this interview in the New York Times in which Reese shares some of her favorite things about the South. Us too, Reese. Us, too.

Enjoy your holiday weekend!
