Surprise! Jay and I are moving (a whole mile away)!
As many of you know, Jay and I were house hunting this spring and summer. Our priority was to stay in or very near our current neighborhood because of its walkability, close proximity to downtown, and great schools.
We wanted a large kitchen, 2.5-3 bathrooms, either 4 bedrooms or 3 bedrooms with a bonus room, and a garage - nothing too crazy. However, it proved to be difficult to find. Our new house has everything except it is lacking a bathroom. Sooo, we’re starting a renovation project to add a bathroom and give the kitchen a little face-lift. While we know we could move in and use the house as is, we also know that these projects are priorities, and we don’t want to live in the house during another renovation project. I definitely don’t have enough sanity for several months of construction mess.
I’m trying to temper my excitement because we aren’t moving for a few more months, and I’m not super excited about tackling more renovations or selling our current house. (You can see the major master bath/closet renovation we did on our current house here.) BUT I’m really excited!
If you’re house hunting in Lexington, my heart goes out to you. It is seller’s market right now, and we put in offers on a couple of houses within 24 hours of being on the market. Both received at least three offers in that time frame, and luckily we were able to get the second house we put an offer on. (Side note: Let me know if you or someone you know is interested in purchasing a 2 bed/2 bath historic 1880s cottage in between downtown Lexington and Chevy Chase. I have the perfect one!)
