Happy (official) fall, y'all!
While Sarah has been living the life of luxury during her well-deserved honeymoon in St. Lucia, I've been running the ole' blog solo this week. We've seriously only had one semi-fallish day in Central Kentucky, and I'm more than ready for the temperatures to stop dropping. In honor of the changing season, the theme of this week's Friday Favorites is "fall," or "autumn" for you more refined readers.
While I added the standard mums to my porch this week, I want to play around with some of my pots in the backyard. I'm using this inspiration from Better Homes and Gardens as my starting point for what I hope to be some beautiful potted arrangements.
While I'm usually down for a glass of red wine no matter what season it is, I almost exclusively drink reds during the fall and winter. I picked up this bottle at Trader Joe's a couple of weeks ago on a whim, and I seriously love it. While I'm no wine snob and don't like to spend more than $12 for a bottle of "weeknight wine," there're only a couple of Trader Joe's under $5 bottles that I like, but this one is at the top of the list. Score!
I'm planning to make a pumpkin cake on Sunday. If it turns out well, I'll share the recipe next week. Anyways, did you know that pumpkin is really nutritious? This cake will essentially be health food.
Fall Denim Trends - This clearly isn't a fashion blog, and Sarah and I both tend to have more of a classic style, but I'm down for a trendy piece now and then. I'm thinking about adding some flares or a lightly frayed-edge jean to my wardrobe this season. However, if you see me sporting anything with a pineapple and smiley face decal, please have me committed.
We have four mantels in our current house, and I'd really like to recreate this look for either the fireplace in our foyer or dining room. Here's where I found this look and some other budget-friendly inspo.
Cheers to the weekend! Hope you have a fabulous one!
